Afghanistan to Get Three New International Airports
A comprehensive plan for the expansion and development of three new International Airports in different provinces is to be materialized soon as per the declaration made by the Ministry of Transport and Aviation.

The plan includes modification of three airports in big cities to international standards and reconstruction of at least twenty two (22) more airports through out the nation’s 34 provinces.
Currently almost all international flights take off from Kabul International Airport only. Now, as per the plan envisaged by the Ministry of Public Transport and Civil Aviation, in a matter of a year, three more big cities including Mazar-e-Sharif in the north, Herat in the west, and Kandahar in the south are supposed to get an Airport of International Standards each.
Among all other airports of the nation, Mazar-e-Sharif Airport operates flight to Iran. However, the standards at the airport match no regional or international standards.
A wave of investments was seen in the Public Transport and Civil Aviation soon after the collapse of Taliban regime in the end of 2001. Now, apart from the National Airliner ‘Aryana’, a number of private Air companies fly regularly to the countries of the region and other cities of the nation. The standards practiced in these private airliners are also a source of concern for the air travel safety in addition to the concerns related to the management of airports.
Kabul International Airport is also one of the most notorious airports in terms of human trafficking and drugs smuggling. Now, the new airports are deemed to produce a world of opportunities in the nation’s aviation sector but caution has to be taken to avoid defaming it with such notoriety as claimed by Kabul International Airline.
As the nation steps forward, positive steps like these need appreciation and deserve public notice too. Hope the day comes back soon when the International Tourist say to each other, “Hey, lets fly to Afghanistan, the land of the ancient Buddhas, the land of hospitality and a world of natural scenery along the Hindukush Belt.”
