Adios Corruption! Monterrey Transit Police Monitored by GPS chipped Uniforms
In efforts to tame corruption and have better means of monitoring the service provided to citizens, Mayor Fernando Larrazabal Breton announced the installation of GPS chips in the uniforms of all officers of the Monterrey transit police force.

While presenting and delivering the 1,684 chipped uniforms with 684, the mayor emphasized that Monterrey is the first municipality in the state of Nuevo León to have this type uniform.
The new uniforms are embedded with a radio frequency GPS device as well as the police department emblem of the Ministry of Roads and Traffic Monterrey (SVTM)and the full name of the officer imprinted directly into the fabric which will make the new uniforms "forgery-proof" and enables the public to fully identify each and every transit agent.
Another monitoring feature of the chipped uniforms is, via scanner, the instant access of each officers official photograph and general information such as name, employee number, CURP, fingerprints, address and telephone. The chips are also resistant to water, acid and alkaline substances and heat.
This information will enable the department heads of each area to establish whether or not the transit officers are in compliance with their orders and stations during every moment of their shifts.-Monterrey Mayor Fernando Larrazabal
The colors of the officers uniforms have also been changed from green to black trousers and white shirt allowing community to fully identify them as part of this new 'anti-corruption' administration.
As an additional note the Mayor announced citizen complaints against corrupt police have dropped from 94 per day to 4.
