AASU burnt State Water Resource Minister over Flood masacre

After the embarkement of Matmora at Dhakuakhana being washed away with the third wave of flood to take the death toll to near hundred, the All Assam Students Union (AASU) today showed their anger on the state Water Resource department Bharat Narah on street. The biggest student organisation today burn the effigy of the minister all over the state to cite their condemn over his corrupt politics on human lives.

"The minister knew about the breach in the Matmora Embankment but ignored it for his personal gains, and now more than 2 lakhs people are suffering for his mistake. The students will not take this matter casually and will do all the necessity to roar against the corrupt politics and the politician", addressed Dr. Sammujjal Bhattacharjee, advisor to AASU who added that AASU will also move on with the rescue operations and relief camps for the victims.
Sahankar Prasad Roy, President of AASU alleged that Government was aware of the reports of 60 breaches in the embankments but acted deaf and blind. "This Governemt and Bharat Narah the water resource minister is a total failure in saving the human lives from the flood. Though its a natural calamity but the Government should have been more responsible to tackle it for good. WE condemn the Govt. and the minister who unnoticed the reports and played a negative role in saving the human lives.
The Student organisation not only burnt the effigy of the Water minister but also observed this day a Black Day to protest agaiast the Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi's aerial visit to Lakhimpur and Dhemaji today morning. "Chief minister is on a helicopter observation today on the flood affected areas but he is too lazy for the proper actions as he is moving to the victims after the flood hit the state for the third time this year and we that's why observed it a Black Day in Lakhimpur district. AASU also asked the state and the central Government to pay attention to the Flood problem of the state and to declare it a 'National Calamity'.
Till date, there are more than 2 million people who got displaced with cattle's and properties and death toll rises to 85 including 23 children in 23 districts of the state. Surging flood washed away the Matmora embankment near Dhakuakhana after it also affected the large portion of Jengaraimukh embankment in Majuli, the largest river island.
