A unique ride for Ash - on an elephant
After battling endless problems with the customs Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has finally made her way back onto the sets of Ashutosh Gowarikar's Jodha Akbar along with Hrithik Roshan. Sitting at our homes and awaiting the blockbuster, we wonder if she has also taken part in some horse riding and sword fighting.

The news though has it that she has done none of the above, but yes rode an elephant named Lakhi for a scene. Jodha Akbar has been in the news ever since its conception. After the success of Lagaan, director Ashutosh could not match the expectations of moviegoers as much with Swades. A lot is expected from Jodha Akbar, considering the extravagent preperations and priority given to the most minute details of the Mughal Rule.
Aishwarya says
- None of the above. But I rode an elephant for a scene. And his name was Lakhi. After Dhoom 2 and its hi-tech ambience and accessories, entering a world of elephants and Mughal grandeur is a true culture shock. And a real challenge for both Hrithik and me after Dhoom 2.But what's the life of an actor without challenges? I'm at a stage in my career where I need to constantly re-invent myself. In Jodha-Akbar everything is far more elaborate. I guess I must be the only actress of my generation to have taken two elephant
After the success of Dhoom 2, the on screen star couple will be seen again together but this time they will be in a different era alltogether. After a modern action packed movie, Jodha Akbar will surely put both Aishwarya and Hrithik's acting skills to a gritting test.
Riding on an elephant for the movie Jodha Akbar is not Aishwarya's first time. She was once on an elephant for a short span of time in Gurinder Chadda's Bride and Prejudice. Aishwarya Bachchan has been away from the silver screen for quiet sometime and the Mughal beauty look in her upcoming movie is much awaited amongst critics and her admirers.
