Wrong,not if the father used to beat his mother blue and black till she vomited blood ,screaming for help that too in front of his young terrified son,then left the family 34 years ago and divorced his wife.
Now when the son is well settled in America ,this father is demanding maintenance from his son to the tune of Rs.5000/- per month.
Pasi Satarawal 41 has been asked by the court in Navsari in South Gujarat to pay a monthly maintainence of Rs.5000/- to Aspi Satarawala 65 his father.
A judicial magistrate in Navsari had passed an ex-parte payment of maintainence last May, now Pasi has again been served another notice.
His lawyers are looking in the matter and will be contesting the order soon. As for the "loving "father ,well he wants Pasi to come to the court so what if he has not taken care of him but he was still his father,Pasi should come to the court and whatever decision court will take it will be accepted by him.
Like many laws which are made for betterment of a particular segment of society ,even this seems to have some drawbacks.It simply does not seem fair that Pasi should be expected to pay for the maintainence of man who was his father just in name and who illtreated his mother and finally dumped them both when Pasi was just 7.
He did not fulfill his responsibilities as a father but he expects Pasi to fulfill the responsibilty of a son for that he is using the maintainence act as a weapon. Not Fair at all.
