80 Year of Alam Ara
Alam Ara celebrates its 80th anniversary. The film released on March 14th 1931 at the majestic Cinema in Bombay. It was the first full length Indian talkie film.

Alam Ara was directed by Ardershir Irani. The film is a love story between a Prince and Gypsy girl, based on the play written by Joseph David. The main characters are the king and his warring wives. It featured master Vithal, Zubeida, L V Prasad and Prithviraj Kapoor.
The film includes the first songs of Bollywood, which portrays cultural tradition of i India. The film has seven songs composed by Ferozshah M. Mishra and B.Irani. One among them was, 'de de khuda ke naam par, sung by actor Wazir Muhammed Khan.
But a sad part is that no prints of the film was available. The very last prints of the film were destroyed in a fire at the Pune National Film Archives in 2003. So the India's first talkie film now just is in our memory.
