60 years down the line, can a unified Israel-Palestine state be a reality?
POLITICS.
Vikas Shekhawat.
Israel is celebrating the 60th anniversary of its foundation. Ehud Olmert marks the Remembrance Day by stating that ‘It is peace, not war, that we aspire to and crave’, however, the Jewish state still remains a land of uncertainty with unresolved conflicts with neighbouring Arab countries and the Palestinians. The two-state solution, which is the core of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, remains a distant dream. No Israeli leader is in favor of sharing power with Palestinians, but years of failure of peace talks has apparently driven some to push the idea of a single democratic state with equal rights for all.
