30-year old lady raped by doctor in ICU

Can it be more shameful? A doctor rapes his patient, that too in an ICU when the patient was in a critical condition. The 30-year old lady was in a semi-conscious condition and could comprehend that she was being raped but could not resist the accused or raise an alarm due to weakness.

The incident, that has been reported from a private hospital in Mumbai, Lotus Hospital, is a shame to the entire doctors community. I think the doctors community should single out such doctors and should raise the alarm bells over the incidents like this.

It is like fence itself eating the crops. The doctors are supposed to save the patients and not to spoil them. This dastardly act was allegely done by a 26-year-old doctor Vishal Vanne, resident medical officer of Lotus Hospital in Vashi in Mumbai.

The victim was admitted to the hospital after she complained of giddiness and fatigue. She was initially kept in the general ward, but was later shifted to ICU when her condition turned critical. She narrated the incident to her husband, after which a complaint was lodged. According to police, preliminary medical reports have confirmed rape.

This is India. Everything happens here due to our 'sab chalta hai' attitude. But such cruel behaviour is not expected from a doctor who takes the Hippocratic Oath.
