3 Iranian Soccer Players Could Land In Jail For Kissing Fan
Iran is becoming more and more like Saudi Arabia which at least is attempting, albeit at a snail's pace, to drag itself out of the dark 10th century. But with crazy Ahmadinejad and his hard line mullahs at the helm, they are dragging Iran back into the 10th century.

Aside from all the horror stories that we read about all the political dissidents and opponents, union activists, journalists, bloggers and others who are jailed or executed for no legitimate reason, now three Iranian soccer places could find themselves in jail for the horrendous crime of kissing a female fan at an airport. Apparently it's illegal to have physical contact between males and females who are not related. Total insanity, since we deal with people constantly from our doctors to shop vendors, or perhaps they don't there, but the whole idea is absurd. Violating their version of Shariah law, which came into play after the 1979 Islamic revolution (I guess they got what they wanted), could land people in jail or fined and whipped.
So these poor soccer players who were just kissing a fan, and I assume they weren't making out with her, are now being sought.
"The arrest warrants have been issued for the three because of their un-Islamic behavior," said the Rajanews website, quoting an unnamed source. It did not identify the three or the football team they played for."Their coach is trying to prevent his players from being imprisoned," said the website. "But he has been told that the players should be responsible for their wrongdoing."
They're not the only ones who have faced punishment for falling afoul of said ridiculous law.
An Iranian actress was given a suspended sentence of 74 lashes in 2003 for kissing a film director at an awards ceremony.
It's interesting that things have worsened for the Iranian people since Ahmadinejad became president in 2005. Of course, they wouldn't be in the position they are in if it hadn't been for 1979. Unfortunately.
