10 Rules for Dealing with Police
Few people in American life behave with arrogance toward the rule of law as American cops. Do not misunderstand me: Most police officers are decent people. But a few have a short-guy mentality and think because they have a badge they can mistreat fellow Americans.
There is nothing more annoying than an arrogant cop who thinks he can shout at people and hold them for no reason. Most cops though are able to abuse their powers because most Americans are ignorant about their constitutional rights.
If a cop gets aggressive, he behaves with such a brevado because he assumed that his victim is powerless to defend himself. But nothing his shut up an arrogant cop like a well-informed citizen. Being knowledgeable your rights and proud in declaring will let the cop know that if he does not want a possible job-losing law suit he should be back down.
A few words: "I know my rights, and I have done nothing wrong and you have no warrant to search my car." is all it does.
Flex Your Rights is an American civil rights group that is dedicated toward informing citizens on how to defend themselves against police arrogance and brutality.
They have recently produced a film entitled "10 Rules for Dealing with Police". This is a film all people, especially young adults, should watch.
