Do Europeans Live Better Lives Than Americans?

I just got back from a tour of five European nations, and throughout my trip I pondered the question “Do Europeans live better lives than Americans?”

After living in America my entire life and spending a month in Europe I have reached a resounding answer: YES. The European way of life I way better…for me. I understand that there is no “greatest country on Earth” for all…despite the constant shouting by American patriots. As satirist Bill Maher often stays, it is ridiculous to state that any one country is the “best” Such a statement, he continues, is akin to stating that one’s wife is the “best” for all men as opposed to the preferred woman for one. America is no doubt the best country for millions of people, but not for all.

So my question is all normative. But let me explain nonetheless why I prefer the European life to the so-called American Way.

1) The Women. Beautiful women liven up even a dark city. Even if you do not have the fortune to know many of them, simply to walk around and see so many beauties puts a smile on your face. European women are more beautiful and sexy than American women. Do not misunderstand me: America has more than its fair share of beauties [Angelina Jolie for one]. But European has more and of a higher quality. There is the beauty and then the things that European women do make them more sexy. First, the body. European women are just more fit than American chics. The work out more and eat more healthily. Second, the attitude. Many American women lack a really feminine filtration that comes naturally to French and Italian women. Third, the clothes. Tight jeans and boats or a black dress does a lot to increase sex appeal. I find that American chics are too into sweats. God invented tight jeans and skirts for a reason!

2) Cafe Society. Europeans enjoy life. One could always marry a French chic and bring her to America. But one cannot import the cafe society of Paris. Europeans know how to sit down, relax, drink cafe and just enjoy the sites. The thing about it is that this is just normal life in European. Going out for a cafe with a friend is a special outing in America. In Europe, this is just the normal thing to do in a day. People do not make real plans to meet in a cafe, they just meet because a cafe is always in walking distance. Life is just relaxed and enjoyed they way it should be.

3) Social Safety Net. The standard-of-living is demonstrably better there. Europeans have universal health care. Here, in the great USA, the health care industry is nothing more than a system of for-profit insurance companies whose goal is to get money from Americans and then find a bullshit reason to deny people the health care they have been paying for. Europeans have paid vacation. Americans are over worked by corporations who see people more and more as just units needed to increase profit margin. Europeans have subsidized college education. In the United States, the student loan business have become – big surprise – a for-profit industry where banks are charging 19% [!!!] interest for loans. The private student loan industry is worth billions. The thing that I greatly detest about America is that money is too much a factor. Health care and education should not be for-profit industries.

I could list more reasons. Sure, I was a tourist there; but I spent enough time and saw that life there was simply la dolce vita.
