Congress lashes out at Modi

Congress has finally adopted a hard stand against the Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi. Concerned at the hard words minced by Modi at the national executive meet of BJP, Congress has come out with a statement that Modi was perhaps mistaken if he thinks that he can attain the stature of a national leader.
Union Minister Rajiv Shukla was of the view that if Narendra Modi thinks that he could rise to a formidable position in national politics by spending a few crore of rupees in Gujarat, the chief minister is highly mistaken.
This comes after the Gujarat chief minister minced some hard words against Congress leadership and Prime Minister in particular. Modi pointed out the brilliance of the Prime Minister has been wasted in a wrong position and his role has been reduced to being a caretaker only.

Responding to these words spoken by Modi at the national executive meet of the BJP, Rajiv Shukla pointed out that the kind of language Narendra Modi used does not suit a leader who wishes to rise to the pinnacle of national politics. In his view, Narendra Modi was highly mistaken if he though that by speaking hard words against the central leadership of Congress, he would be able to make a mark for himself in the national political scenario.
Congress has acused Narendra Modi of double speak and has particularly taken offense to his remarks against the Prime Minister. By accusing Narendra Modi of double speak, Shukla was pointing to Narendra Modi’s statement in which Modi showed a liking for Pranab Mukherjee. Rajeev Shukla pointed out that Modi’s statements were a bundle of lie. In case he had confidence in Pranab Mukherjee, he should have supported Pranab Mukherjee’s candidature for the post of President. Rajjev Shukla pointed out that when NDA’s coalition partners as Nitish Kumar and Shiv Sena could support Pranab Mukherjee, why did Modi keep quite and rather not support Pranab for the position of President.

Modi had on Saturday praised Sangma too and as per Rajeev Shukla, Modi changed his preference in a day and was today supporting Pranab Mukherjee. This amounts to double speak as per Rajeev Shukla and a person who changes statements on a daily basis is not a suitable person for the top position.
Modi in his speech had showered praise for Pranab Mukherjee when he pointed out that Congress never supported Pranab Mukherjee for the post of Prime Minister and instead chose Manmohan Singh. This as per Narendra Modi happened because the ruling party head realized that in case Pranab Mukherjee proved his competence in the top post, it would create problems for the leadership.
Congress spokesperson Rashid Alvi too gave his comments on the issue and pointed out that Dr. Manmohan Singh is the Prime Minister of the country and his name should be taken with respect when it comes to commenting on national issues.
Tomorrow would be another day and everyone would be waiting to see on how does Narendra Modi responds to the challenge posted by the Congress Party in general and Rajiv Shukla in particular.
