The Chambal, once famous for the dreaded dacoits, now seems to be changed as a place that is not inspiring the Bollywood filmmakers to make movie on the life of dacoits now. The Madhya Pradesh police has been killed 56 dacoits in a little more than one year.

According to the report, 14 dacoits have been killed in Bhind and 14 have been killed in in Morena, eight dacoits killed in Satna, five in Datia and four each in Shivpuri and Gwalior. Till recently, Jagjivan Parihar and his gang was out in the Chambal. Recently police nabbed Parihar and his seven gang members from his Morena hideout. This was a real booster for the state police. During the hours long fight with Parihar’s gang, a police inspector was killed and three others were injured.

Parihar was like a terror for the people of three states Uttar Pradesh, from where he hailed, Rajasthan and MP, where he took shelter. The Dayaram Gadariya gang members are still active in the region but only on a small scale despite of Dayaram’s killing in an encounter with police earlier.

The Gadariya gang was very much popular in the Chambal region as Dayaram’s sister had got massive support and votes in the by-election on Gwalior Lok Sabha seat.

Most of the times, the police action of one state against dacoits had become matter of friction with the other state’s police when the police enter in neighboring state to encounter the dacoits.

However, the other members of Gadariya and Parihar gangs are still running the gang actively, at the same time, the police have a thought that their leaders have been killed so, they are no more a force to reckon with.
