Their power packed performances have sent money rushing into the pockets of film producers. The common man turns up at the ticket counter of a movie hall every Friday to invest his money on movies featuring them. But, have you ever wondered where exactly B-town celebs invest their money in? Amitabh Bachchan

Business venture: Amitabh Bachchan corporation ltd (ABCL)

After mesmerizing audiences with his larger than life on-screen Avatars for years, Amitabh Bachchan turned producer in 1995. ABCL, Big B’s dream of a production company, specialized in everything from film production to event management. The group which started out with a strong workforce of 150 people produced and distributed movies like Tere Mere Sapne, Bandit Queen, Rakshak. However, within five years of its inception, the company fell face down, leaving the owner virtually penniless.

But, Big B was back with a bang in 2000 with KBC. He earned around 15 crores from 85 episodes and another 10 crore with ICICI endorsement. This helped him to pay back the creditors and re-establish ABCL.

Karisma Kapoor

Off-screen business venture: Babyoye.com

In 2011, news broke out of Karishma kapoor investing an undisclosed amount in Babyoye.com, an e-commerce venture. It was announced that with the investment Lolo became the largest individual stakeholder in the Company. However, company sources were quick in clarifying that the investment was not an endorsement deal.


Madhuri Dixit

Off-screen business venture: T.V channel

Just when everyone thought that Madhuri Dixit had settled for a life of domesticity in the U.S, the lady proved rumor mills wrong by returning to her “Des” with hubby and children in tow. However, in less than two months of her arrival, the Dhak Dhak girl made it clear that she was not here to pose for shutterbugs and meant serious business. In December last year, the lady announced her plans of opening a T.V channel. Although details of the investment continue to remain under wraps, insider’s claim that the channel is slated for launch sometime around June this year.

Arjun Rampal

Business Venture: Restruant LAP

The news of Arjun Rampal’s off screen gourmet venture surfaced in the year 2009. Designed by Sandip Khosla, LAP is a members-only property. The venture, Rampal said, brings to life his dream of owning a place that offers world class ambience, good music and cuisine all under the same roof.

In keeping with her stylish persona, Bipasha Basu’s off screen venture represents all things synonymic to fashion, fitness and lifestyle.
