The election for the absolutely non-political post has taken a route that is greatly political now. Yes, I am talking about the election process and party-wise campaign for the election of President of India.

The matter has been transformed in political issue. UPA’s candidate Pratibha Patil has already been faced some allegations against herself regarding her alleged involvement in fraud and murder case.

Now, the BJP has taken a new route to defame Pratibha Patil. By entering completely in anti-Pratibha campaign, the BJP party general secretary Arun Jaitley has launched a website.

In this website, one can find the media reports and articles who had written about the UPA-Left’s presidential nominee. The BJP may well say that this is not an act for defaming anybody but a practice to make people aware about the allegations made against the person who is in the race for Rashtrapati Bhawan.

However, the BJP leadership has earlier looked separated in two groups on the question to start campaign against Pratibha Patil. Party chief Rajnath Singh looked reluctant to chose ‘personal way’ while L K Advani looked more volatile on the pliant President issue.

The know pratibha patil website launched at the residence of M Venkaiah Naidu and Jaitly confirmed that he has the permission of the party chief. According to him, the website is a campaign to provide an informed choice to the Electoral College.

He said:

The voter has a right to the information about the candidate he is voting for. This effort is intended for an informed choice of the electorate.

The website asks some questions such as-

# Has Smt. Pratibha Patil been chosen as the UPA’s candidate because of her loyalty to the ‘Nehru Dynasty’?

# Is her ‘vulnerability’ an additional ‘qualification’ for being chosen as the Presidential candidate?

# Will Smt. Pratibha Patil remain committed to the Constitution of India or, as in the case of Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed during the Emergency, to her sponsors who have nominated her?

# Doesn’t Smt. Pratibha Patil have a moral responsibility to respond credibly to the allegations made against her?
