Air-Deccan upstages Indian, becomes #2 air carrier in India

This is another story of success. Air Deccan has become number two airlines in India. The government owned Indian has been placed to third position. Jet Airways is the largest domestic carrier in India.

Air Deccan ha started its flights on August 2003, and now it became the second largest air carries in the country. Air Deccan has opened a new era of low-cost airlines war in the country. It has carried over 5.8 million passengers since August 2003.

It has 265 daily flights from fifty-five destinations. It is happened to be the first airline to introduce Re1 and Rs500 tickets.

Air Deccan gained a market share of 21.2 per cent in June with 1.8 per cent of rise since May 2005.

Captain G.R. Gopinath, Managing Director of Air Deccan, said Air Deccan has 265 daily flights now and in the next five years, we plan to increase it to 600. Air Deccan plans to induct at least one aircraft a month for the next five years.
